A New Vision and Structure
A New Church and An Incentive for Church Revitalization
What a great fall this has been for the Oneida Association! The Mission Fair at the Fairmount Community Church on September 13 to benefit Tents of Hope's efforts to help refugees in Darfur was a great success. Thanks to the Global Church Committee, Fairmount Community Church, UCC Bayberry and the Oneida Association Council.
At the Fall Meeting, September 28, the Association adopted in principle a new proposal for restructuring boards and committees based upon the Oneida Mission Statement ratified at the Spring Meeting.
The Churches of the Oneida Association, in covenant with one another, will engage, support, witness and serve as disciples in the life and ministry of the United Church of Christ.
The new structure will streamline boards and committees to fulfill the roles of engaging, supporting, witnessing and serving together in mission and ministry.
We also voted on a new visionary budget that included an increased per-capita contribution from our churches of $1.00. The increased income will provide scholarship aid for our churches to participate in church revitalization programs such as Casting Your Nets on the Other Side;
We celebrated with our new and renewed congregation -- Three Steeples United -- during a time of worship and promise covenanting together to walk together in all God's ways.
We voted to receive the Central Square Community Church as a member of the Association and of the United Church of Christ! What a day!
