Do you love yourself? Is self-love a good thing? In the New Testament Jesus seems to assume that we would love ourselves - it is even presented as the basis for our love of others. What does healthy Christian self-love look like? How does it relate to other biblical ideals like self-denial? How does it relate to psychological concepts like self-acceptance, and having a positive self-image? Jim will discuss the meaning and the practice of healthy Christian self-love, drawing on insights from scripture and the spiritual tradition, as well as psychology, and his more than three decades of experience as a spiritual director.
