Wider UCC Event Grants are available to Lay Members of Oneida Association Churches!
Wider Church Event Grants are made possible through the yearly Per Capita gifts from Oneida Association churches.
The Line Item from which the grants are paid is a part of the Operating Budget of the Association
and was established by the Oneida Association to offer aid to laypersons interested in attending wider church events at the local,
state and national settings of the church. We hope in this way to assist laypersons (men and women,
youth and adults) in the fulfillment of their Christian faith and calling to serve people.
We also see this as an opportunity for laypersons to enhance leadership skills and experience.
- The recipient, or at least one parent of a recipient, must be a member of an Oneida Association church. (If the recipient is a youth and actively involved in the youth group of an Oneida church and a parent is not a member of the church, we would appreciate a recommendation from the Youth Group advisor regarding this youth's involvement in church activities.)
- Working criteria limits the amount of assistance per event to $50.00 per person or a maximum of $250.00 per church. Persons may receive two $50 grants per year (but not for the same event) and churches may receive only one grant per year. The event for which assistance is requested should be of short duration and include experiences that provide tools, materials and information that broadens perspectives and encourages Christian service. It is expected that the person receiving assistance will continue to be active in their church and in other aspects of the United Church of Christ ministry in its varied settings.
- We encourage churches to give matching scholarships for Wider UCC Church Events.
- Designated offerings or "above and beyond giving" by churches to the "Wider Church Events" line item in the budget shall be encouraged and much appreciated.
